Softball Game Preview: Williams Field Black Hawks vs. Desert Ridge Jaguars

The Williams Field Black Hawks will head out to face off against the Desert Ridge Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Williams Field has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Williams Field is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Gilbert on Thursday. They lost 20-2 to the Tigers. The defeat continues a trend for the Black Hawks in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Desert Ridge narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Higley 8-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.

Novi Muffo looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Desert Ridge got a big performance out of Brooklyn Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that Johnson hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Davis, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Desert Ridge's record now sits at 14-6. As for Williams Field, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10-1.

Williams Field suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Desert Ridge in their previous matchup back in March of 2016. Can the Black Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
