Basketball Game Preview: Lakewood Cougars vs. Burlington-Edison Tigers

Lakewood is 0-8 against Burlington-Edison since January of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cougars duke it out with the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Lakewood is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Lakewood had to suffer through an 85-33 loss at the hands of Lynden Christian. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Lyncs are ranked 15th).

Anna Perez put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted nine points. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played.

Meanwhile, Burlington-Edison entered their tilt with Sehome on Saturday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They claimed a resounding 56-28 victory over the Mariners. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Burlington-Edison's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points over those games. As for Lakewood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-12.

Lakewood was dealt a bruising 71-42 loss at the hands of Burlington-Edison in their previous matchup back in January. Can Lakewood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
