Softball Recap: Archbishop Mccarthy Wins Going Away Against Oxbridge Academy

Archbishop McCarthy won the last time they faced Oxbridge Academy and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Mavericks blew past the ThunderWolves 11-2. The Mavericks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Sienna Garcia made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Garcia was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Archbishop McCarthy got a big performance out of Alexis Nightingale, who went 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Nightingale has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Izabel Baron, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Archbishop McCarthy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oxbridge Academy only managed three hits.

Archbishop McCarthy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Oxbridge Academy, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 13-5 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archbishop McCarthy will challenge West Boca Raton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oxbridge Academy, they will square off against Palm Beach Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Broncos will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the ThunderWolves surely won't give up without a fight.
