Softball Game Preview: Lake Mills L-Cats vs. Jefferson Eagles

Lake Mills has won three straight games at home, while Jefferson has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The L-Cats will welcome the Eagles at 5:00 p.m.

Lake Mills fell victim to Poynette and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pumas. The L-Cats have struggled against the Pumas recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Jefferson was able to grind out a solid win over Whitewater on Tuesday, taking the game 6-1.

Natalie Weber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Josie Brown and Nevaeh Milbrath did most of the damage at the plate: Brown went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Milbrath got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That home run marked the first that Brown has launched this season. Hailey Pratt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Lake Mills, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
