Softball Recap: Oberlin Takes a Loss

Oberlin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 23-14 to the Northwest Raiders. On the bright side, the 14- run effort marked the Tigers' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Ashlyn Jefferson was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with eight stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Amber Manuel, who went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Oberlin's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Northwest, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Looking ahead, Oberlin will challenge Plainview at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Northwest, they will venture away from home to face off against Westminster Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
