Mentor has gone 9-1 against Shaker Heights recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Cardinals will head out to challenge the Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. Mentor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 14.2 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Mentor after they put the first runs on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of GlenOak by a score of 3-2. The contest marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Austin Vanhuss was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Tyson Cendrowski also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Shaker Heights was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 8-1 to Gilmour Academy.

Shaker Heights' loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Mentor, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Mentor couldn't quite finish off Shaker Heights when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Cardinals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
