Football Recap: Oglethorpe County Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Something's probably wrong if your squad accumulates more yards in penalties than offense, a fact Oglethorpe County just learned the hard way. They took a blow against the Elbert County Blue Devils on Friday, falling 27-0. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Elbert County found their leader in freshman Mikeal Allen, who rushed for 129 yards and one TD. Those 129 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Allen.

Oglethorpe County's loss dropped their record down to 2-3. As for Elbert County, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Coming up, Oglethorpe County will take on Athens Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight. As for Elbert County, they will head out on the road to take on Commerce at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.2 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
