Baseball Recap: West Mesa Takes a Loss

Rio Grande hit West Mesa with a six-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs lost 14-4 to the Ravens. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Ravens this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on April 15th.

West Mesa saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. The Mustangs are 6-1 when Rodriguez posts two or more runs, but 2-17 otherwise. Aven Covarrubias was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

West Mesa's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Rio Grande, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-9 record this season.

West Mesa does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rio Grande, they are taking a road trip to face off against Del Norte at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Ravens are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
