The Nelsonville-York Buckeyes will challenge the Portsmouth West Senators at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Nelsonville-York is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Federal Hocking as they made off with a 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Buckeyes, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Ava Nungester made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Cam Jolley was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Emmie Fowler was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Nelsonville-York was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Portsmouth West got themselves on the board against Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington on Monday, but Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington never followed suit. They blew past the Blue Jays 10-0. The Senators not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 21st (when they won 17-7).
Kyleigh McCleese was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lainey Cook, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Nelsonville-York has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Portsmouth West, their win bumped their record up to 11-13.
