Baseball Recap: Morton Takes a Loss

Morton extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 19-10 in the process. They came up short against the Dunlap Eagles, falling 8-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Potters of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Dunlap, they have been performing well recently as they've won 16 of their last 19 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

For Dunlap's part, the team relied heavily on Davis Weeks, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Simon Malcolm also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

While Morton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
