 Smithfield can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game  on Thursday. They came out on top against the North Kingstown Skippers by a score of  7-4. That's more bragging rights for Smithfield, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
  Crystal Cacador was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off   two  hits. Cacador has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Cacador was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Skyla Oliveira, who  got on base  in all four of her plate appearances with a  home run and two  runs. Another player making a difference was  Lily Riggin, who  went 1-for-4 with three  RBI.
 On North Kingstown's side,  Gabby Peralta made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of  Julianna Bucci, who  scored a  run while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 Smithfield's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for North Kingstown, they have  traveled a rocky road recently having  lost five of their last six matchups,  which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record  this season.
 Smithfield will look to defend their home field  on Saturday against St. Mary Academy-Bay View at 12:00  p.m. St. Mary Academy-Bay View and Smithfield are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. As for North Kingstown, they will head out on the road to  face off against  East Providence at 1:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
