Baseball Recap: Puckett Triumphs

Puckett's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They skirted past the Raleigh Lions 5-3. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won seven in a row.

Wilkes Carter tossed a big game, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Eli Rankin, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Truitte Carter was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Puckett's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Raleigh, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Puckett will have a chance to go back-to-back against Raleigh: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
