Baseball Recap: Dolgeville Takes a Loss

Dolgeville extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-8-1 in the process. They came up short against the Mt. Markham Mustangs, falling 9-3. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Bryce Wright was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Noah Izzo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Mt. Markham, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5-1 record this season. The result was nothing new for Mt. Markham, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Mt. Markham's side, the team relied heavily on Owen Jones, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Craig, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Dolgeville has already played their next game (against Hamilton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Mt. Markham, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Herkimer at 4:30 p.m.
