Volleyball Recap: Pius X Comes Up Short

Pius X was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marian Crusaders. The Thunderbolts were not able to make up for their loss to the Crusaders from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

While Pius X ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-20.

McKenzie Becker paced Pius X's offense, picking up eight kills. Becker got some help from Lauren Pearson and her 22 assists.

Marian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sami Curnyn, who had nine assists and four digs. That's the most digs Curnyn has posted over her last four contests.

Pius X's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Marian, with the win, they broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 15-6.

Pius X didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Norris on the 27th. As for Marian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Millard North on the 27th.
