Football Recap: Lift for Life Academy's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lift for Life Academy had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 48-28 margin over the St. Michael the Archangel Guardians. Winning may never get old, but the Hawks sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Lift for Life Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jay'Veon Scott, who rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns. Those 149 rushing yards gave Scott a new career-high. Ekeilan Henderson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 106 receiving yards.

When it comes to explaining why St. Michael the Archangel lost, don't look at Gage Burgess. Despite the final result, he rushed for 124 yards and one score, and also threw for 76 yards and one TD.

Lift for Life Academy's record is now 10-4. As for St. Michael the Archangel, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 10-4 record.

Looking ahead, Lift for Life Academy will square off against Seneca at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks will need to watch out since the Indians have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. St. Michael the Archangel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
