Tulare Western posted their closest win since April 23, 2024 on Monday. They skirted past the Mt. Whitney Pioneers 8-6. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 4-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Matthew Corral made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Corral was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Easton Powell was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Blake Tinker, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Tulare Western was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Tulare Western and bumps their season record up to 6-9-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Mt. Whitney, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tulare Western will take on Porterville in a tournament on Tuesday. The last three games the Panthers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Mt. Whitney, they will be taking part in a tournament against Mission Oak at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Pioneers surely won't give up without a fight.
