Baseball Game Preview: Fortuna Huskies vs. Eureka Loggers

Fortuna hasn't had much luck against Eureka recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Huskies will challenge the Loggers at 4:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Fortuna is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Arcata, falling 10-4.

Fortuna saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mariqus Ludd, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Eureka didn't have quite enough to beat Del Norte on Saturday and fell 4-3.

Eureka also got a good showing from Bryson Burns, who struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Burns a new career-low in walks (two).

On the hitting side, Robert Williams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Jesse Vasquez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Fortuna's record now sits at 3-12. As for Eureka, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Fortuna might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Eureka when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
