Football Recap: Trenton Curliss and Aaron Hurley Pace Charlotte Defense + How To Watch

Charlotte fought the good fight in their overtime match against North Miami Beach on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 20-14 to the Chargers. The Fightin' Tarpons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Although Charlotte took the loss, they still got scores from Jackson Hay and Rakhai Longmire.

Even if they lost, Charlotte's defense still kept up the pressure with nine sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Trenton Curliss and Aaron Hurley, who racked up five sacks between them. Curliss is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last 14 games he's played dating back to last season. Nathan Slater was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Charlotte now has a losing record of 1-2. As for North Miami Beach, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Charlotte will challenge Fort Myers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Fightin' Tarpons will be up against the Green Wave's rather soft defense (which has allowed 29 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for North Miami Beach, they will square off against American at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
