Basketball Recap: East Mountain Comes Up Short

After flying high against Oak Grove Classical Academy last Saturday, East Mountain came back down to earth. The East Mountain Timberwolves had to suffer through a 65-16 loss at the hands of the Estancia Bears. The defeat continues a trend for the Timberwolves in their matchups with the Bears: they've now lost seven in a row.

East Mountain got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Evelyn Kannolt and Jodie Tillman, who each put up four points. Emee Naylor held things down on the boards with five rebounds. Genesis Navarro-Chavez took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Estancia found their leader in sophomore Brook Eister, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Eister has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ana Cuevas, who posted seven points and 11 steals.

East Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Estancia, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.

East Mountain has already played their next matchup, a 54-13 victory against Santa Fe Prep on the 18th. As for Estancia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-33 defeat against Logan on the 18th.
