Softball Recap: Randolph County Tigers vs. Cleburne County Tigers
In what's become a running theme this season, Randolph County gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cleburne County Tigers a 10-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Randolph County.
Not much got past Autumn Taylor, who gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks to keep Cleburne County off the board. Taylor has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Brantlee Wortham was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Huckabe, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
On Cleburne County's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kadence Brown, who went 2-for-2 with a double.
Randolph County has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7-3 record this season. As for Cleburne County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-18.
Randolph County will head out on the road to face off against Ashville at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Ashville is coming into the game with five straight defeats at home, meaning Randolph County will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
