Soccer Game Preview: Weslaco vs. La Joya

The Weslaco Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the La Joya Coyotes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. La Joya took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Weslaco, who comes in off a win.

Weslaco is headed into the game having not lost since January 4 and will look to keep things rolling. They were the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over San Benito on Friday. Considering the Panthers have won nine matchups by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, La Joya entered their contest against Harlingen on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. La Joya lost 6-0 to Harlingen. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 341st, while the Cardinals are ranked 101st).

Weslaco has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-1-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those seven matchups. As for La Joya, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7-2.

Weslaco came out on top in a nail-biter against La Joya in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 2-1. Does Weslaco have another victory up their sleeve, or will La Joya turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
