The Pine View Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the Virgin Valley Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Pine View took a 17-run defeat the last time they faced off against Canyon View, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Pine View had just enough and edged out Canyon View 8-7 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
Genevieve Evans was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Jacynn Clark also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Virgin Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Valley a 16-0 shutout on Monday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Mady Wright was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed over her last nine games. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted over her last nine matches.
In other batting news, Raylynn Woods was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Hayden Owsley was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.
Virgin Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive contests.
Virgin Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Pine View, their record now sits at 5-8.
Pine View might still be hurting after the 15-1 loss they got from Virgin Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can Pine View avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
