For the second straight game, Lone Peak will face off against Pleasant Grove. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Lone Peak's last matchup with Pleasant Grove could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Tuesday. The Knights came up short against the Vikings, falling 13-5. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost six in a row.
For Pleasant Grove's part, Mason Hawk Henry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Henry has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
In other pitching news, Noah Brady looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Drew Smith, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keaton Nordick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
Pleasant Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive games.
Pleasant Grove's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lone Peak, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
Both Lone Peak and Pleasant Grove just can't seem to miss. The Knights have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Pleasant Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
