It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Tuba City had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They blew past the Ganado Hornets 71-38. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Hornets back in January, they had to take a 59-56 defeat.
Tuba City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aubrey Begaye out in front who went 7-for-10 to rack up 15 points and six boards. What's more, Begaye also posted a 70% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January of 2024. Natasha Acothley was another key player, going 6-for-9 en route to 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.
Tuba City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Faith James, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jasah McIntosh, who posted 13 points.
Tuba City has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points over those games. As for Ganado, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-10.
Tuba City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-39 win against Chinle on the 13th. As for Ganado, they have also already played their next match, a 68-61 victory against Winslow on the 17th.
