Fort Bend Austin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 76-71 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fort Bend Bush Broncos. On the bright side, the 71- point performance marked the Bulldogs' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Fort Bend Austin's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Koen Herrmann, who threw for 414 yards and six TDs while completing 73.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 89 yards on only 11 carries. The Bulldogs' leading receiver Kaleb Dixon was Herrmann's top target yet again, picking up 304 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

Fort Bend Bush's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamir Young, who rushed for 156 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries, and also threw for 86 yards and one TD while completing 88.9% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Young a new career-high in passer rating (153). Brandon Smith was in the mix too, providing Fort Bend Bush with four touchdowns.

Fort Bend Austin's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Fort Bend Bush, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Coming up, Fort Bend Austin will face off against Ridge Point at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Fort Bend Bush, they will square off against Fort Bend Dulles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Broncos will be up against the Vikings' rather soft defense (which has allowed 48.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
