Softball Game Preview: Forreston Cardinals vs. Dakota Indians

Forreston hasn't had much luck against Dakota recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Cardinals will square off against the Indians at 10:00 a.m. Forreston has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Forreston is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Pearl City, falling 12-0.

Forreston saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Sanders, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Dakota had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over Pecatonica. The result was nothing new for Dakota, who have now won 13 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Dakota pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Forreston, their loss dropped their record down to 3-23.

Forreston might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Dakota when the teams last played back in April. Can the Cardinals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
