Basketball Recap: TJ Shinkle's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lassiter over Centennial

Lassiter lost against Centennial back in November of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Lassiter Trojans took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Centennial Knights. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was TJ Shinkle, who went 5 of 12 en route to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Liston, who posted 11 points.

Lassiter's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Centennial, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Lassiter and Centennial should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. Lassiter (ranked 197th) will meet Chestatee (ranked 465th) at 3:00 p.m. on December 30th. Lassiter is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.4 points per game this season. Similarly, Centennial will face off against Cherokee at 4:30 p.m. on Friday up 170 places (143 vs. 313).
