Softball Recap: Minerva Comes Up Short

Minerva blew Salem out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Salem got their revenge. The Lions fell just short of the Quakers by a score of 3-1. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Minerva saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rachel Weaver, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Minerva has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Salem, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Minerva will square off against United at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Salem, they will face off against Crestview at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Quakers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
