Soccer Game Preview: Lodi vs. Kimball

The Lodi Flames will venture away from home to face off against the Kimball Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lodi is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.6 goals per game this season.

Lodi will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Thursday, then bounced right back against Tracy on Tuesday. Lodi put the hurt on Tracy with a sharp 5-1 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Flames' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

They hit Tracy with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Devin Briceno (2), Alfredo Silva, Rylan Meyers, and Evan Renschler.

Meanwhile, Kimball lost 11-1 to Lincoln on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 982nd, while the Trojans are ranked 113th).

Kimball has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Lodi, the victory got them back to even at 5-5-4.

Lodi took their win against Kimball in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 9-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lodi since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
