Baseball Recap: Mattawan Extends Winning Streak to Three

Mattawan entered their tilt with Lakeview on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 8-5. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans, too.

Evan Sweers was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Troy Scarff, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Mattawan's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-4-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Lakeview, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-13.

Mattawan will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair will be back at it again later today.
