Basketball Recap: Cameron Phinizee and EJ King Secure Win for Russellville

There's no place like home for Russellville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Lawrence County Red Devils by a score of 66-59 on Friday. Given the Golden Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Red Devils are ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Russellville to victory were EJ King and Cameron Phinizee. King posted 25 points, while Phinizee put up 18 points. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which King has scored at least a third of Russellville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jah Williams, who earned nine points.

Russellville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.1 points per game. As for Lawrence County, they dropped their record down to 11-16 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Russellville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 94-77 victory against Hamilton on the 27th. Lawrence County has also already played their next game, a 78-76 defeat against West Morgan on the 27th.
