Baseball Recap: Redondo Union Takes a Loss

Redondo Union managed to slip by El Segundo the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Redondo Union lost 11-3 to El Segundo on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Sea Hawks have suffered since April 12, 2024.

Redondo Union got a good showing from Matisse Cardenas, who pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Cardenas a new career-low in walks (zero).

On the hitting side, Redondo Union saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Leoff, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Roman Brown also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Redondo Union now has a losing record of 5-6. As for El Segundo, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0-1.

Looking ahead, Redondo Union will host Mira Costa at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mira Costa's pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so Redondo Union's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for El Segundo, they will take on Peninsula at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. El Segundo's pitchers better be ready for this one: Peninsula has averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
