Softball Recap: Unity Eagles vs. Cameron Comets

Unity extended their losing streak to nine on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-12. They lost 11-2 to the Cameron Comets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Comets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-2 last Tuesday.

Unity saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Megan Peterson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Peterson has hit this season.

As for Cameron, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

On Cameron's side, Emerson Krahenbuhl spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Krahenbuhl.

At the plate, Cameron let Aubree Kreier and Chloe Larson run wild. Kreier went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Larson went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Kreier has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynn Candler, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Unity is set to take on their familiar foe Hayward at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Cameron will square off against rival Ladysmith at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
