Softball Recap: McCamey Comes Up Short

McCamey had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-14 to make it 15. They came up short against the Ozona Lions, falling 17-2. That's two games in a row now that the Badgers have lost by exactly 15 runs.

McCamey saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dynastie Avila, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Arissa Moss also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

As for Ozona, their record now sits at 6-9-1. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with McCamey: they've now won five in a row.

On Ozona's side, Mia Rodriguez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Rodriguez was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Ozona got a massive performance out of Monica Rodriguez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Rodriguez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addison Badillo, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

As of now, neither McCamey nor Ozona have any future games scheduled.
