Softball Recap: Fayette Ware Wins Going Away Against Craigmont

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fayette Ware). They blew past the Craigmont Chiefs 20-1 on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Wildcats with their most commanding win of the season.

Mackenzie German made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. German was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those triples were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Fayette Ware got a massive performance out of Katelynn Thompson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Thompson launched this season. Rebekah Thompson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Fayette Ware was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .857. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Fayette Ware has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. Craigmont's defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Fayette Ware has already played their next game, a 17-2 loss against Fayette Academy on the 24th. As for Craigmont, they will head out to face off against Brighton at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
