Football Recap: Auburndale Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Auburndale couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They and the Lakeland Dreadnaughts were almost perfectly matched up on Wednesday, but they suffered a 7-6 defeat. The Bloodhounds were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dreadnaughts earlier this season, when they won 13-12.

Demi Serman threw for 89 yards on seven of 15 attempts. Trinity Hall was her top target, picking up 58 receiving yards.

Auburndale moved to 11-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Lakeland, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

Auburndale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lakeland, they will head out to square off against Seminole Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Dreadnaughts 6.8, the Hawks 9.3) so any points scored will be well earned.
