Great Bridge is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Granby is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wildcats will welcome the Comets at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Great Bridge had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Indian River on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers stepped up to hand the Braves a 16-0 shutout. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Bailey Bliven looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cassie Kleier, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Kaylyn Bettis, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Great Bridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indian River only posted an OBP of .118.
Meanwhile, Granby put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over Booker T. Washington. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Comets considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Aj Lomogda was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Lomogda was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Granby got a massive performance out of Meghan Boring, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Anwynn Williams was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.
Great Bridge's victory bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Granby, their win bumped their record up to 13-4.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Great Bridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Granby struggles in that department as they've averaged .403. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Great Bridge's way against Granby in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Great Bridge made off with a 10-3 victory. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
