Basketball Recap: Yavneh Academy Comes Up Short

If Yavneh Academy was riding high fresh off their 69-33 takedown of Highlands last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Yavneh Academy Bulldogs were beaten by the Pantego Christian Panthers 71-42 on Monday. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-14.

Despite the loss, Yavneh Academy still got an impressive performance from Darren Sacher, who went 8 of 10 en route to 18 points and four steals. What's more, Sacher also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Daniel Sharvit, who posted six points.

Leading Pantego Christian to victory were Tristan Brown and Evan Jackson. Brown dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards, while Jackson went 6 for 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Brown has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aj Brooks, who scored nine points along with five boards and three steals.

Yavneh Academy's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Pantego Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a massive bump to their 18-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yavneh Academy will venture away from home to face off against North Dallas Adventist Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Yavneh Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season. As for Pantego Christian, they will square off against Covenant at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pantego Christian also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 64.7 points per game.
