 The Lake Weir Hurricanes won the last time they faced the Freedom Patriots, and things went their way  on Friday too. Lake Weir narrowly escaped with a  victory as the  squad sidled past Freedom  54-51. The  victory made it back-to-back wins for Lake Weir.
 Lake Weir can attribute much of their success to  Tra'shawn Warren, who  scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Amari Kiner, who  scored seven points along with three  steals.
 Freedom's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Malcolm Frisby, who  scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was  Connor Rambis, who  dropped  a double-double on 11 points and 12  rebounds.
 Lake Weir's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Freedom, they are  on  a  four-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 8-17.
 Lake Weir will square off against Umatilla at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Lake Weir will have to bring their A-game into this one,  as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 458th, while Umatilla is ranked 220th). As for Freedom, they will take on Apopka at TBD on Tuesday. Apopka will roll in looking for their  fifth straight  win, something Freedom surely won't give up without a fight.
