Football Recap: Gulf Shores Comes Up Short on the Road Against Choctawhatchee + How To Watch

Gulf Shores had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Choctawhatchee Indians. The Dolphins gained 56 more yards on the day, but it was the Indians that made the best use of them.

When it comes to explaining why Gulf Shores lost, don't look at Carter Davis. Despite the final result, he picked up 104 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 59 yards.

Even if they lost, Gulf Shores' defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Gabriel Ervin. Another thorn in Choctawhatchee's side was Landon Everett, who made 14 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Choctawhatchee got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tamen Zabetkis out in front who rushed for 93 yards, and also threw for 48 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 93 rushing yards gave Zabetkis a new career-high.

Gulf Shores wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 22-19 defeat against Mary G. Montgomery on the 29th. As for Choctawhatchee, they have also already played their next game, a 42-0 victory against Navarre on the 29th.
