4A Region II District 10 recap October 22, 2013

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Terrell, who defeated 695th ranked Forney, 35-28.

Highland Park added to the longest winning streak in 4A Region II District 10 this week by beating West Mesquite, 35-14. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Scots.

Brooks Burgin provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Highland Park beat the Wranglers. He completed 18 passes for 215 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 113 yards. Burgin's favorite target this week was Kevin Ken, who caught 5 passes for 91 yards.

Cameron Adkins was a key player and the best on defense this week as Creekview lost to Poteet. He forced 1 fumble.

Lane Novy threw for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Novy put up the best numbers in passing as the Pirates defeated the Mustangs. Novy's favorite target this week was Kody Edwards, who caught 5 passes for 96 yards.

Going into this week's game against the Tigers, Poteet's Novy needs 110 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. Accruing a total of 18 touchdowns this year, Novy has thrown for 1,890 yards with 6 interceptions.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when lance Brownlee's team takes on Creekview. The Scots' offense has scored 263 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Jay Cline's team has allowed only 119 on the year.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Highland Park takes on the Mustangs. At the moment, the Scots are in second, while Creekview is in third.

There should be lots of points scored when Highland Park and the Mustangs face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Scots comes in having scored 263 this season, while Creekview has scored 173. Highland Park scored 35 points last week as it topped West Mesquite.

Newman Smith moved up to 536 from 592 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region II District 10. The Trojans climbed the ranks as a result of falling to North Forney 37-34.
