Baseball Game Preview: Palm Beach Central Broncos vs. Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves

The Palm Beach Central Broncos will venture away from home to challenge the Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oxbridge Academy took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Palm Beach Central, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Palm Beach Central needed a bit of extra time to put away Dr. Joaquin Garcia. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bulldogs 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Broncos.

Charlie Houd looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Palm Beach Central's victory was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Luis Sousa, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Tre Stropp also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Oxbridge Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 10-0 to King's Academy. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the ThunderWolves were not able to get on the board.

Palm Beach Central's record is now 5-2. As for Oxbridge Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Palm Beach Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Oxbridge Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Palm Beach Central since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
