Basketball Game Preview: Palm Beach Gardens Gators vs. Dwyer Panthers

Palm Beach Gardens hasn't had much luck against Dwyer recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Palm Beach Gardens Gators will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dwyer Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Thursday, everything went Palm Beach Gardens' way against Leonard as Palm Beach Gardens made off with a 68-43 victory. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while the Lancers are ranked 631st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Palm Beach Gardens found their leader in sophomore Jordan Johnson, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Thomas, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 13 points and three blocks.

Palm Beach Gardens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Dwyer, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 62-49 win over Suncoast on Friday.

Palm Beach Gardens has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Dwyer, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Palm Beach Gardens came up short against Dwyer when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 68-62. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Dwyer's JERMUNI SHULER, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds.
