Basketball Recap: Red Lake Comes Up Short

Red Lake was the 100-58 winner over Clearbrook-Gonvick when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Red Lake Warriors had to suffer through a 87-60 loss at the hands of the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while the Bears are ranked 107th).

Despite the loss, Red Lake still got an impressive performance from Dimitruis Harris, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards. With that strong performance, Harris is now averaging an impressive 8.8 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Roy, who posted nine points along with seven assists and four steals.

Even though they lost, Red Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Red Lake's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Clearbrook-Gonvick, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Red Lake will challenge Cass Lake-Bena at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clearbrook-Gonvick, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-35 win against Blackduck on the 4th.
