Basketball Recap: South River Rams vs. Dunellen Destroyers
South River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 45-19 to the Dunellen Destroyers. The Rams were down 41-11 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dunellen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophie Jimenez, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 17 points in addition to six boards and six steals. Jimenez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahzara McLaughlin, who went 6 of 13 en route to 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
South River's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Dunellen, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South River has already played their next match (against Sayreville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Dunellen has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Timothy Christian.
