Basketball Recap: Preston Comes Up Short

Preston fought the good fight in their overtime match against Robert C. Byrd on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 60-59 to the Robert C. Byrd Eagles. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Preston still got an impressive performance from Easton Hayes, who went 9 for 16 on his way to 24 points and seven rebounds. Those 24 points gave Hayes a new career-high. Aaron White was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Preston's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Robert C. Byrd, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-3.

Preston will challenge Philip Barbour at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Preston is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.9 points per game this season. As for Robert C. Byrd, they will welcome Grafton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Robert C. Byrd is facing Grafton at the right time seeing as Grafton is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
