Soccer Game Preview: Merit Preparatory Academy vs. American Heritage

The Merit Preparatory Academy Knights will head out on the road to face off against the American Heritage Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Merit Preparatory Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals last Tuesday, they were much more limited against Rowland Hall on Monday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Winged Lions. The Knights have struggled against the Winged Lions recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meetings.

Meanwhile, American Heritage had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. Give the Patriots' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Their offense was hitting Freedom Prep Academy from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Cael Tillman led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by himself.

Merit Preparatory Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for American Heritage, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
