Baseball Game Preview: Delavan-Darien Comets vs. Evansville Blue Devils

The Delavan-Darien Comets are taking a road trip to take on the Evansville Blue Devils at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Delavan-Darien's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Evansville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Thursday, Delavan-Darien came up short against East Troy and fell 7-2.

Haaken Hovestol was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Evansville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-9 heartbreaker at the hands of Brodhead/Juda. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Blue Devils have suffered since April 19th.

Evansville's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Delavan-Darien, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7-1.

Delavan-Darien came out on top in a nail-biter against Evansville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
