Baseball Recap: Valmeyer Has No Trouble Against Lebanon

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Belleville East, Valmeyer was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Lebanon Greyhounds 10-2. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Tallen Jakimauskas looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has become a key player for Valmeyer: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 3-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Luke Blackwell and Chase Snyder did most of the damage at the plate: Blackwell scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5, while Snyder scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Blackwell a new career-high in doubles (two). Troy Neff was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

The win snapped Valmeyer's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-6 record. As for Lebanon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Valmeyer will face off against Waterloo at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lebanon will be paying especially close attention to the Pirates' contest: after the Pirates faces off against the Bulldogs, they'll take on Lebanon again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
