Baseball Game Preview: South Davidson Wildcats vs. Salisbury Hornets

South Davidson hasn't had much luck against Salisbury recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. South Davidson will be playing at home against Salisbury at 6:00 p.m. South Davidson will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Last Friday, South Davidson got the win against Lexington by a conclusive 13-7. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by six runs or more this season.

Zander Floyd was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of South Davidson's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Dalin Johnson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Salisbury was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Concord, falling 23-13. One positive for the Hornets, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Salisbury's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for South Davidson, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5.

South Davidson might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Salisbury when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can South Davidson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
